Barbecued pork and Chianti- A perfect pair!

We barbecued pork marinated in honey mustard, soy sauce, cumin, olive oil,and  pepper flakes. Paired with a 2008 gorgeous DaVinci Chianti- the flavours were divine! We will be trying this pairing again very soon!
Enjoy the snow!

Bretty's Vin de Semaine

Hi folks,

This past weekend Siri and I were in Osoyoos. We were camping at the Nk'Mip campground - just below the Nk'Mip Winery and Vineyards. We sampled some outstanding wines! Siri paired the Pinot Noir with the Farm House Cheese.

My wine pick of the week is the NK'Mip Qwam Qwmt 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon. What an amazing wine. Classic cab sauv pepperiness with an ample washing of cassis. Beautiful wine with a long finish. Well worth the price!

Siri's Cheese Pick of the Week

I discovered the Camembert from The Farm House last weekend. It is exceptionally creamy and oozy! The best Camembert I have had in months.

The Farm House produces small batches of cheese by hand in Agazziz, BC.

We purchased the cheese from Okanagan Artisan Breads, and paired the Camembert with their Country Baguette.

I also recommend pairing the cheese with the 2007 Pinot Noir from Nk'mip Cellars.

All of these products were clearly made "with love..."

Enjoy!

Brett and Siri's First Annual Okanagan new release Wine and Food pairing party!

The invitation:

Siri and Brett’s First Annual Okanagan Wine and Food Pairing!

Please pair a new release Okanagan wine with food (enough for a sample for 8 guests)

Your wine varietal is:  EHRENFELSER

On October 23rd, we had 6 guests over for a celebration of Okanagan wines paired with food. A few weeks before the party we gave each guest a varietal of wine, and the challenge to pair it with food. The results were delicious, memorable, and great fun. Look at this line-up! We have never eaten such delicious food paired so perfectly.

  1. Reisling- Lang Farm Reserve 2008, paired with Asparagus wrapped Prosciutto.

  2. Ehrenfelser- Summerhill 2009, paired with grilled Indian Prawn Kebabs.

  3. Pinot Noir- Mount Boucherie 2008, paired with creamy Fish Chowder.

  4. Pinot Gris- Wild Goose 2009, paired with Tandoori Chicken.

  5. Merlot- Intrigue 2008, paired with Pork Tenderloin in a Cream Fenugreek sauce.

  6. Cabernet Franc- Summerhill 2004, paired with Blue Cheese Steak on Crostini with glazed Macadamia Nuts and Pears.

  7. Cabernet Sauvignon- Jackson Trigg's 2006- paired with Oatmeal Cookies and and 70% dark chocolate.

  8. We finished the evening with some port and a stunning bottle of Con-fusion, Stag's Hollow 2009.

All of the pairings were stellar! I am hard-pressed to choose a favourite, but do find myself dreaming about the fish chowder and Pinot Noir pairing, and the Blue Cheese steak and Cab Franc.

Next year, we will definitely do this again, and based on feedback from guests, may try to figure out a way to have some lighter courses and more vegetables with the wine.

This was with out a doubt, an evening of food and pairings made With Love....
